Prior to pursuing a law degree, and for nearly 12 years, Thao worked in the Energy Sector with Schlumberger, one of the world’s largest upstream oil and gas service companies, as a petroleum engineer.

Thao completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Practical Legal Training in Australia.

Thao has both Vietnamese and Australian citizenship. She returned to Vietnam in 2022. She joined RUSSIN & VECCHI in 2023 and specializes in Energy Matters.

  • Thao is a legal professional with a background in commercial law and she specializes in the energy sector. She has published a number of articles on new and renewable energy;
  • Thao seeks to expand the firm’s reach in the energy sector;
  • Thao managed several significant projects at Schlumberger. As a Technical and Sales Representative, she prepared tender documents for landmark projects such as Shell’s Prelude and INPEX’s Ichthys. In Schlumberger in Brunei, Australia, Vietnam, and France, she addressed operational and technical challenges with contractual implications, overseeing major projects;
  • From October 2006 to May 2010, Thao represented Schlumberger in high-level technical roles, interfacing with clients such as Shell Development Australia (SDA), Exxon Mobil, Apache, Santos, and Woodside. Her remit included the development of technical designs for well-construction, effective coordination of lab testing, and management of logistics and operations;
  • In Brunei, from October 2006 to August 2004, as a Field Engineer for Schlumberger, Thao engaged in material design and lab testing for Brunei Shell Petroleum.
  • Her role included the management of daily personnel rosters for offshore operations, conducting offshore audits, and the delivery of service quality training;
